Welcome to Help the Unsheltered
This website is dedicated information about the homeless in general
We have changed our name from Help the Homeless. There is a lot of talk and some action to help and end the homeless condition. However, there are many people falling through the cracks. The best example is any one of the million who will lose their homes this year in foreclosure. When this happens, the people have no funds to do a security deposit and their credit rating goes to nothing. They can't rent or have regular housing. Some agencies after some time do put them in temporary motels, but a lot live in their cars or on the street.
In addition to these unfortunate are our veterans. More and more are returning home plagued by many problems from their duty, physical hardships and then facing unemployment. Currently there are 125,000 veterans without a shelter. Add to that the million or so that will be coming back from our withdrawals.
We have visited many soup kitchens and places of encampments. The only place that showed some hope was the Lakewood camp of Minister Stephen Brigham. He is the inspiration to have something better for these unfortunate people.
Therefore, we have put together plans to provide legal and authorized areas of long term encampment where it is NOT a trash city and there is help, hope and love shown to them.
